Influence of Ni2+ ions on the structural, morphological, photoluminescence, photo-catalytic and anti-bacterial studies of Cd0.9Zn0.1S nanostructures

The present investigation reported the controlled synthesis of Cd0.9Zn0.1S and Cd0.89Zn0.1Ni0.01S nanostructures by simple chemical co-precipitation route. XRD analysis confirmed cubic structure CdS on Zn doped Zn, Ni dual without any secondary/impurity phases no alteration in phase was noticed Zn/Ni addition. shrinkage crystallite size from 69 to 43 Å variation lattice constants micro-strain were described addition defects associated with Ni2+ ions. Microstructural optical studies prepared films carried out using scanning electron microscope (SEM), UV-visible spectrometer photoluminescence (PL) spectra. enhanced absorbance visible wavelength reduced energy gap substitution showed that are useful improve efficiency opto-electronic devices. functional groups Cd-S/Zn-Cd-S/Zn/Ni-Cd-S their bonding verified Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) studies. elevated PL emissions such as blue green explained decreasing generation more defects. identified probable an efficient photo-catalyst for degradation methylene dye. liberation charge carriers, better absorbance, improved surface volume ratio creation accountable current photo-catalytic activity which exhibited stability after sex cycling process. bacterial killing ability is nanostructure due collective effect lower particle/grain also higher ROS producing capacity.
